The Ibanez AE245 Jr is built from the ground up to bring together old-world acoustic guitar craftsmanship and the features and design that modern players demand. A great example of this is the mellow tone of this guitar's okume top, back, and sides, which are further enhanced by an katalox fingerboard with a beautiful vine inlay. All this beauty is translated flawlessly through a custom Ibanez pickup and preamp system for live performance. And the AE245 Jr's shorter 23.9" scale length gives the strings a light touch.
With the AE series of acoustic guitars, Ibanez aimed to combine the best elements of traditional lutherie with modern design techniques that appeal to players who demand the performance-based appointments of today's styles and genres. It all starts with the AE body. Its narrow waist, larger depth, and round lower bout strike a perfect balance between tonal projection and playing comfort. Traditional scalloped X-bracing allows the top to vibrate freely, imparting your tone with added harmonic content. Ibanez even went so far as to carefully design the bridge pins to ensure fast and accurate string changes.
Ibanez wanted to ensure they were able to translate the exquisite acoustic voice of the AE245 Jr into a live performance environment. They achieved this with a custom-designed Ibanez pickup and preamp system. The T-bar Undersaddle pickup captures the movement from your guitar's strings and sends it to the precisely voiced preamp located on the inside of the AE245 Jr's end pin. Plugging in direct delivers plenty of woody tonal detail. But pair this guitar with a high-quality outboard preamp, and you'll enjoy the full acoustic-electric experience.
